Over the past few weeks, car dealerships across the country have been facing a widespread and frustrating issue: Google Business Profiles are being suspended and unverified, often without warning or explanation.

These suspensions are more than just a technical hiccup. Your dealership’s Google listing plays a crucial role in how customers find, contact, and engage with your business online. When it’s down, it’s not just visibility that’s affected—it’s your bottom line.

What’s Happening?

Many dealerships are reporting the same troubling pattern:

  • Profiles are suspended and unverified without a clear reason.
  • When unverified, some dealerships receive no verification option, with only a link to “Contact Support.”
  • After appealing suspensions, dealerships receive an “Approved” status, but the suspension remains in place.
  • Attempts to contact Google Support often result in generic, unhelpful replies that offer no resolution and no way to escalate.

This situation appears to be part of a larger technical issue within Google’s systems, linked to Google Maps and Business Profile infrastructure.

What You Can Do Now – Suspensions

If your dealership is suspended, here’s a recommended action plan to help you navigate the process:

  1. Submit an appeal using Google’s official Business Profile support channels. You should have received an email, but if not, select “Support” from your dashboard and title your ticket “Suspension.”
  2. Once you receive confirmation that your appeal has been approved, wait 24-48 hours, and then open a new support ticket to flag that the profile is still suspended.

What You Can Do Now – Unverified

If your dealership is unverified, here’s a recommended action plan to help you navigate the process:

  1. Submit a support ticket referencing “No way to verify is offered.” This will take you to a verification portal where you can attempt to submit an appeal.
  2. Google Support will require:
    1. A picture of the outside of your business that shows clear signage.
    2. A picture of the outside of your business that shows address markers (e.g., street name, number) or landmarks (e.g., adjacent stores).
    3. A Utility Bill dated within the past 3 months. The address listed on the Utility Bill should correlate with the address of the Business Profile.
    4. Any other relevant proof that the business exists (optional) such as a business licence.

What to Expect

We know this is incredibly frustrating, especially given how important your online presence is in today’s market. Right now, it appears this issue will take time and patience to resolve as Google works through the backlog of suspension appeals.

We are currently seeing at least one week of turnaround time from appeal approval to listing verification.

Our team is actively monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates as soon as new information becomes available.
