As we’ve discussed over the last few months, artificial intelligence (AI) and search engine optimization (SEO) are in the early stages of a new relationship together. While AI has long been in the background of digital marketing, its recent advances have brought it to the forefront in a new way. We still have a lot to learn about what its increased presence will mean for the industry, but the SEO team at Wikimotive is already finding new ways of working with the technology and adding it to their toolkit.

One area of work, in particular, offers a wide range of opportunities for “collaboration” with AI tools: data analysis. As anyone who works in SEO will tell you, there is no shortage of data produced by and filtered through the tools and platforms that make up the backbone of our work.

Harnessing this data is at the heart of what we do, but it can be incredibly time-consuming. By utilizing the advanced capabilities of AI, we can make many parts of this process more efficient and powerful. Today, I am going to discuss three types of analysis that AI can perform to help make SEO data more actionable. Let’s jump right in.

#1 Keyword Analysis

In order to develop strong keywords that can support your overall goals and strategy, you need to know what your customers are searching for. Rather than spending hours poring over search data manually, AI can analyze it to rapidly identify patterns that humans might not immediately recognize. Even a simple program like ChatGPT can help create keyword clusters, estimate keyword difficulty, and highlight current keyword gaps.

With this information at your fingertips, you are better poised to take advantage of your competitors’ weaknesses and your own strengths to improve your search rankings and drive traffic to your site.

#2 Content Analysis

AI can also evaluate the content already on your site. You spend a lot of time writing and optimizing your onsite content, so it’s vital to ensure that it’s contributing to your online presence. Whether it’s a simple task like proofreading and suggesting edits or assessing your topics, keywords, and internal linking structure, AI programs can help you understand the factors influencing your site’s performance.

Armed with a more nuanced understanding of how your audience interacts with your content and whether or not it follows industry best practices, you can adjust your strategy to reach your goals.

#3 Backlink Analysis

High-quality backlinks are another foundational part of a strong online presence. They help give your site and its pages authority in the eyes of Google and other search engines, but it can take a lot of work to develop and evaluate them. While an AI model like ChatGPT is not connected to the internet (and cannot, therefore, analyze a website in real-time for you), what it can do is remove some of the ambiguity, tedium, and guesswork from your analysis process. With the right prompts, ChatGPT can spot patterns in uploaded backlink data, provide lists of criteria for you to use when assessing site quality, or generate ideas for new articles and guest posts.

While reaching out to establish relationships with others in the automotive industry will always be a necessary and inherently human part of building backlinks, utilizing the capabilities of AI can help you hone in on where to focus your energy.

The More Things Change…

Whether we realize it or not, the tools we use on a regular basis already have many of these capabilities built in, albeit in a much more limited capacity than we’ve described above. Until now, we haven’t had direct access to the AI behind these tools, much less the ability to direct and fine-tune it for exactly the results we need. It’s an important and versatile advance. But it’s still nowhere near autonomous; as we’ve seen throughout our artificial intelligence series, this technology requires human direction and oversight every step of the way. Effectively harnessing the increased power of AI takes practice, a solid understanding of what the result should look like, and a baseline of experience in the field to tell us whether that result is what’s actually being produced.

At Wikimotive, we take great pride in the expertise of our team. While we embrace new technology, we firmly believe that our human touch is what sets us apart and elevates our capabilities beyond the sum of our individual skills—or the tools we use.
