Are you a multi-store group and don’t know where to start when it comes to SEO? If you have a group site, and individual store sites, should you focus on your group site SEO? Or should you prioritize the store sites? Pay attention…
SEO and group sites can be complicated
There is definitely merit in doing SEO on your group site, creating good quality content. But, at the end of the day, it should be all about the individual store sites. This includes any effort put into your group site, to help influence how things show up for those individual sites.
Google recognizes the location of your store – and the brand of your store – as being relatively absolute. They understand where you’re located and what brand you are. However, the content on your website can significantly modify how far away you can rank, and for what more nuanced keywords. But trying to get your group site to show up prominently (for a range of specific cities and brands) to represent all of your stores – on an organic basis – is impossible.
You can get it to come up for onesie, twozies.
You can get it to come up for certain specific keywords.
But to be able to have your group site be the authority for all of your stores and try and treat it as your one website – which I see some dealers making the mistake of – just isn’t feasible.
